A ceramic coating creates a sacrificial barrier between your gelcoat or paint and the elements, including harmful UV rays. It prevents oxidation and hazing for stronger, longer-lasting protection, so results last years instead of months and maintenance becomes a breeze.

My Experience with Matt's details was truly top notch! First off I called him very late in the spring and he came up with a way to get my Hull done to follow up with the super structure once in the water. This year I opted to go with not only a compound and seal but also went down the ceramic coating route in hopes of getting an extra year out of the job. First off his pricing is very competitive compared to few others I checked. Matts work was amazing and the boat looks brand new! Lastly, his communication was spot on. As with any spring/early summer project in New England, we had plenty of weather related issues. He kept me posted every step of the way, touched base with any reschedules, let me know when he got there, and lastly when he left. Every price on this site is per foot, so the length of the boat is nearly all we need to quote it. Restoration and seasonal work is quoted after a look, because condition drives the hours rather than length.
Four states of gelcoat, and the honest answer for each.
Nothing needs correcting. Keep it that way with a recurring wash so salt never gets a chance to bite.
Judged by hand and eye, the same way we assess a boat on arrival. If it sits between two of these, we quote the lower one and tell you honestly if it needs the next step up.
The same arithmetic we walk owners through, with the assumptions on the table.
Assumptions, stated plainly. Buff and shine at $65 per foot, ceramic coating at $100 per foot lasting three years, both from the published rates on this site. The coated line assumes one coating at the start and a second in year four. How often an uncoated hull actually hazes depends on where the boat is kept and how hard it is used, which is why that is a control rather than a fixed number. This is an illustration of the arithmetic, not a quotation.
