Cedar Island Marina sits on the Hammonasset River in Clinton Harbor, tucked between a quiet residential area and the Hammonasset nature preserve, deliberately clear of industrial and commercial traffic. It has been family owned and operated for nearly forty-five years and runs 400 slips for seasonal and transient boats.
Marinas.com has named it an Elite Marina for seven consecutive years, a designation given to a fraction of a percent of marinas nationally. The site includes a heated pool, fitness centre, waterfront restaurant, captains' lounge, and full-time security, and in 1996 the EPA cited it as one of the twenty-five most environmentally conscious marinas in the country.

Preserve water is productive water. Growth at the waterline comes on faster here through midsummer than in a busier, better-flushed commercial harbour, and on a larger boat that is a lot of linear feet to correct if it gets ahead of you.
The Hammonasset also carries silt and organic material down into the harbour, so the stain runs browner than a pure salt-water boat's. We budget extra time at the waterline on Cedar Island boats, and at 400 slips this is a marina where booking alongside your dock neighbours makes the forty-minute run from Milford work well for everyone.
