We are not affiliated with Ned Dimes Marina. We are an independent mobile detailer that services boats kept there.
Ned Dimes Marina is the Town of Westport's facility at Compo Beach. From May through Labor Day it operates daily, then runs to sunset through October before closing down for the late fall.
It sits at the more exposed end of Westport's water, right where the Saugatuck meets the open Sound, rather than tucked up the river.
Exposure is the whole story at Compo. Boats kept here sit in more open water than the river yards upstream, and more wind means more salt spray drying on the topsides. Salt left to bake in the sun is what dulls a finish faster than anything else we deal with.
This is the clearest case on our whole service area for ceramic coating. A coated hull sheds salt readily and rinses clean with far less effort, which matters when the boat is getting doused several times a week on a breezy afternoon. For an uncoated boat out here, a bi-weekly wash plan is the honest minimum.
The same packages we run across the shoreline. Restoration and seasonal work is quoted after a look at the boat.
