North Cove Yacht Club sits on North Cove, the sheltered water just upriver from the bustle of Saybrook Point. It is a member-owned club with moorings and launch service, and a considerably quieter setting than the marinas at the river mouth.
The cove is a well-known anchorage on the lower Connecticut River and a favourite stop for cruising boats.
Moored boats are a different maintenance problem from slipped ones. A boat on a mooring swings with wind and tide and takes sun and spray from every direction with nothing alongside to shade it, so fading comes on evenly but thoroughly across the whole hull and deck.
Access is the practical constraint. Servicing a boat on a mooring is not the same as walking down a dock, so the usual arrangement is to bring it in to the club float for the work. Talk to us early in the season and we will plan around the launch schedule.
