Old Lyme Dock Company provides transient and seasonal dockage on the east bank of the Connecticut River, one of the first stops for boats coming upriver from the Sound on that side of the channel.
The east side of the lower river is shallow in places and dotted with old stone shad piers sitting just below the surface, so local knowledge and attention to the channel markers matter here more than most places.

Mixed water is the theme on this stretch: fresh coming down, salt pushing up, silt and tannin throughout. The waterline stain that results is neither straightforward growth nor straightforward tannin and typically needs proper compounding rather than washing.
Boats that spend time in the shallow creeks behind Great Island pick up an additional stain from sitting over mud at low tide. It is worth telling us where the boat actually spends its time, because a river-channel boat and a creek boat need different amounts of work at the waterline.
