Boats Inc. sits on the Niantic side of the river, accepting transients and within an easy walk of Main Street. The site was formerly the homestead of Avery Smith, who developed Niantic Village.
The river here runs past a railroad lift bridge with sixteen feet of clearance at mean high water, and the channel winds initially before straightening out upstream.

Boats kept just inside the inlet get the strongest tidal flow on the river, which means a constant load of suspended silt and sand moving past the hull. The waterline needs attention on a regular basis here rather than once a year.
Niantic Bay outside the inlet is broad and wide open to Long Island Sound, so any boat that spends its days out there rather than up the river takes a serious salt load. Those are the boats where ceramic coating makes the clearest sense on this end of our range.
