Port Niantic sits on the Niantic side of the river with deep water slips and rack storage, a short walk from Main Street and the village's shops, movie theatre, beaches, and boardwalk.
It accepts transients and sits just past the inlet, which makes it one of the most convenient places on this end of the coast to keep a boat.
Rack boats are usually the better job of the two we do here. A boat on the rack has no growth below the waterline at all and gives us proper access to every hull surface, which a slipped boat never quite does. The before and after on a rack boat is often striking for that reason.
The slipped boats sit in a tidal river with strong flow through the inlet. That keeps the water moving but carries a steady load of suspended material against the hull, and the waterline is the recurring job. A sealant makes a real difference to how often that needs proper attention.
