A long-established full-service yard on the Thames.
We are not affiliated with Crocker's Boatyard. We are an independent mobile detailer that services boats kept there.
Crocker's Boatyard is one of the long-standing full-service yards on the Thames River in New London, serving a harbour that handles ferries, commercial shipping, and naval traffic alongside its recreational fleet.
The Thames here is deep working water. Cross Sound and Block Island ferries run from New London, and the Coast Guard Academy sits upriver.
Airborne fallout is a real issue in a port like this one. Diesel exhaust and grit from ferries, commercial vessels, and naval traffic settle on horizontal surfaces overnight, and that grit is mildly abrasive. Wiping it off dry is exactly how the fine scratching we correct on New London boats gets started.
Wake is the other factor. Constant heavy traffic on the Thames means slipped boats work against their lines and fenders far more than they would in a quiet harbour. Fender rub marks along the hull sides are among the most common corrections we make here, and they respond much better to being caught early.
The same packages we run across the shoreline. Restoration and seasonal work is quoted after a look at the boat.
