Essex Island Marina occupies its own island in the middle of Essex Harbor, reached by the marina's launch. It offers transient services and is home to Marley's Café.
The setting is genuinely unusual on this coast: a full marina on an island, in a harbour that is already one of the most attractive on the river.

Island access means logistics matter more than usual. Everything we bring has to come across on the launch, so we plan the visit carefully and confirm arrangements with the marina in advance. It is entirely workable, it just is not a case of parking the truck alongside.
The water here is effectively fresh, so the job is tannin staining and silt at the waterline rather than salt growth. On a boat kept in Essex through a season, that stain sets into the gelcoat and typically needs compounding rather than washing to come back properly.
