Rowayton Yacht Club was founded in 1979 and is the oldest yacht club in Rowayton, sitting on the Five Mile River that separates Norwalk from Darien. It describes itself as a community of sailing enthusiasts, powerboat owners, and maritime lovers, welcoming members across all ages and experience levels.
The Five Mile River is only about 1.25 miles long from its upper reaches to the mouth, with moorings lining the channel for most of its length and marinas along the east side.

Boats moored in the Five Mile River sit in water that shifts between salt and brackish depending on tide and rainfall, and they swing freely with nothing alongside to shade them. The waterline stain here is heavier than on a boat kept in open salt water, and the fading is even but thorough.
Access runs through members, and the practical arrangement for a moored boat is to bring it in to the club float for the work rather than trying to service it on the mooring. Talk to us early in the season and we will fit around the club's launch schedule.
