Bridgeport is about fifteen minutes west of us and holds some of the best protected dockage on this stretch of coast. Cedar Creek in particular is sheltered from nearly every direction, which is why so many owners keep their boats tucked in there for the season.
It is also a genuine working port. Freighters and commercial vessels run up Black Rock Harbor and Cedar Creek to load and discharge cargo, and that industrial character shows up on your topsides in a way it does not in a quieter harbor.

Airborne fallout is the real issue here. A commercial harbor puts soot, diesel exhaust, and industrial grit into the air, and it settles on horizontal surfaces every night. Owners who keep a boat in Black Rock Harbor often find a gritty film on the deck and house within days of a wash.
That grit is abrasive. Wiping it off dry is how fine scratching starts in the gelcoat, so a recurring wash plan tends to pay for itself here faster than in a cleaner harbor. Cedar Creek's shelter is a genuine advantage for storm protection, but calm, enclosed water also means less wind and rain to rinse the boat naturally between visits.
