Caswell Cove Marina sits on the Housatonic River in the Devon section of Milford, up from the river mouth where the channel runs 200 feet wide at around 14 feet deep past the Milford Point breakwater.
Stratford Point Light, built in 1822, marks the approach, and the two black chimneys in Devon are the landmark most river boaters steer by coming upstream.

This is the Housatonic side of Milford, and it is a different problem from the harbour. The river is tidal and brackish, swinging between fresh and salt with every cycle, and it carries tannins down from upstream. The result is a brown waterline stain that is genuinely harder to shift than salt-water growth, because it sets into the gelcoat rather than sitting on top of it.
On a Caswell Cove boat we usually plan proper time at the waterline, sometimes with compounding if it has been left a season or more. A polymer sealant or a ceramic coating is worth more here than on a harbour boat, precisely because it stops the stain bonding in the first place.
