Branford River, Stony Creek, Thimble Islands

Branford is about twenty-five minutes east of Milford and is one of the busiest boating towns we serve. The Branford River holds several full-service yards, and Stony Creek sits right at the doorstep of the Thimble Islands.

The Thimbles change how people use their boats here. With more than a hundred pink granite islets a short run offshore, Branford boats get used hard and often, day after day through the season, rather than sitting in the slip waiting for a weekend.

A boat that runs to the Thimbles several times a week accumulates salt spray and UV exposure far faster than one that leaves the slip on Saturdays. Branford boats are, on average, the most heavily used boats we detail, and the finishes show it.

That usage pattern makes recurring maintenance more valuable than one-off correction. A boat that gets washed every week or two here holds its gloss for years. A boat that gets one detail a season tends to need compounding by the second or third year, because oxidation has had time to set in between visits. If you use your boat hard, a wash plan is the cheaper path over time.
