Guilford is about half an hour east of Milford. It is worth the drive: the boats here run larger than anywhere else we work, and the town supports several yards and clubs along the West River and out at Sachem's Head.
Guilford Yacht Club alone handles vessels up to 60 feet. On boats that size, per-foot pricing adds up quickly, so owners here tend to think carefully about protection rather than repeated correction, which is the right instinct.

Guilford Yacht ClubFounded in 1954 on the West River among the salt marshes, with roughly 150 slips taking boats up to 60 feet, a fuel dock, and pump-out.

Guilford has more moored boats than most towns we serve, and a moored boat is a different animal from a slipped one. It swings with wind and tide, sits in open water, and gets a full 360 degrees of sun and spray with nothing alongside to shade it. Fading is more even but also more thorough.
The salt marshes that make Guilford Harbor beautiful also make it productive water. Growth at the waterline comes on quickly through midsummer, and on a 45 or 50 foot boat that is a lot of linear feet to correct if it gets away from you. This is the service area where we most often recommend ceramic coating outright, because on a large moored boat the math on three years of protection against repeated compounding is not close.

He is a hands on owner operator which I think is very important. He took the time to visit and advise as well as inspect the final work making adjustments as necessary. He knows what he is doing and he and his crew even properly prepped to protect neighboring surfaces, which most boat detailers are too lazy to do. My Experience with Matt's details was truly top notch! First off I called him very late in the spring and he came up with a way to get my Hull done to follow up with the super structure once in the water. This year I opted to go with not only a compound and seal but also went down the ceramic coating route in hopes of getting an extra year out of the job. First off his pricing is very competitive compared to few others I checked. Matts work was amazing and the boat looks brand new! Lastly, his communication was spot on. As with any spring/early summer project in New England, we had plenty of weather related issues. He kept me posted every step of the way, touched base with any reschedules, let me know when he got there, and lastly when he left.
