Fort Rachel Marina sits on the west side of the Mystic River near the village, one of the cluster of facilities that make this three-mile stretch of water the densest concentration of marine services in Connecticut.
The village, the Seaport Museum, and the bridges are all within a short distance.

Village-adjacent berths mean maximum exposure to the channel traffic, and Mystic's channel is busy through the whole season. Boats work against fenders constantly, and the topsides show it before anything else does.
We look closely at the rubrail and the hull sides where the fenders sit on any boat kept in this part of the river. Caught early, fender rub polishes out easily. Left for a couple of seasons it becomes a compounding job.
