We are not affiliated with Mystic Shipyard. We are an independent mobile detailer that services boats kept there.
Mystic Shipyard sits on the Mystic River in West Mystic, blending a modern full-service operation with the traditional character of the river. It offers repairs, a swimming pool, and a clubhouse alongside its dockage.
The Mystic River holds more boatyards per mile than any other stretch of water in Connecticut, and standards here are correspondingly high.
The Mystic River is narrow and heavily trafficked, and it is crossed by both a bascule bridge and a railroad bridge that hold boats waiting to pass. All that traffic in a confined channel means constant wake, and slipped boats work against fenders and pilings far more than they would in an open harbour. Fender rub and dock marks are the most common corrections we make here.
The water is genuinely mixed, fresh from upstream meeting salt pushing up from Fishers Island Sound. The resulting waterline stain is neither pure growth nor pure tannin, and it typically needs proper compounding rather than a wash once it has had a season to set.
The same packages we run across the shoreline. Restoration and seasonal work is quoted after a look at the boat.
